Twice is a very popular South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group was created through a reality TV show called Sixteen in 2015, where sixteen trainees competed to become part of the group. Initially, seven members were chosen: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung. However, the founder of JYP Entertainment, J.Y. Park, decided to add two more members to the group, making it a nine-member group. He chose Tzuyu because she was very popular among viewers, and Momo because of her excellent dancing skills.
The group debuted on October 20, 2015, with their first EP called The Story Begins, and the lead single was “Like Ooh-Ahh”. This song became very popular, and its music video was watched by millions of people on YouTube. The name “Twice” was chosen because the group aims to touch people’s hearts twice: once through their music and once through their performances. The fans of Twice are called “Once”, which means if you love them once, they will love you twice in return.
Twice has become very successful worldwide, known for their catchy songs and energetic performances. They have released many hit songs and have won numerous awards, making them one of the most beloved K-pop groups today.
