How did Blackpink form?

Blackpink is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, a big music company in Korea. The group started forming in 2010 when YG Entertainment held auditions around the world to find talented young singers and dancers. This was after they had successfully launched another girl group called 2NE1. The members of Blackpink had to train very hard for many years before they could debut as a group.

Jennie was the first member to join YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2010, and she was only 14 years old at that time. She moved back to Korea from New Zealand to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. Lisa, who is from Thailand, joined YG Entertainment in 2011 after passing a tough audition in her home country. She was the only one out of 4,000 applicants who was accepted. Jisoo joined as a trainee in July 2011, and Rosé, who is from Australia, joined in 2012 after winning an audition there.

The four members were officially announced as part of Blackpink in June 2016. Jennie was introduced first on June 1, followed by Lisa on June 8, Jisoo on June 15, and Rosé on June 22. The group’s name, Blackpink, was chosen to show that they are not just about beauty but also about talent and strength. They finally debuted on August 8, 2016, with their first single album called “Square One,” which included the songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” These songs were very successful and helped Blackpink become famous quickly.

Blackpink’s music and performances have been very popular both in Korea and around the world, making them one of the most successful K-pop groups today. They have broken many records and have won numerous awards for their music and videos. Their fans, known as BLINK, love them for their energetic performances and inspiring messages in their songs.
