Monsta X is often called a “monster” group in K-pop because their name means “monsters conquering the K-pop scene.” This name reflects their powerful and energetic performances, which have helped them become very popular worldwide. Since their debut in 2015, Monsta X has achieved significant success, including winning numerous awards and performing sold-out concerts globally.
Monsta X was formed through a survival show called “No.Mercy,” where they competed against other trainees to become part of the group. Initially, they had seven members, but Wonho left the group in 2019, leaving them with six members: Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. Their music style combines elements of hip-hop, EDM, and pop, which has been influential in the K-pop scene.
The group has released many successful albums and singles, including their first English album “All About Luv,” which reached number five on the US Billboard 200 chart. Monsta X has won sixteen Bonsang awards and one Daesang award from various year-end award shows, demonstrating their impact on the music industry. They are known for their strong stage presence and have performed at major events like the Teen Choice Awards, further solidifying their status as a leading K-pop group.
