RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, started his music journey by rapping in underground clubs in Seoul when he was just 15 years old 🎤. He was inspired by hip-hop music after listening to artists like Eminem, and he began writing his own lyrics, which eventually led him to participate in local hip-hop events 🎧.
As he grew older, RM auditioned for a record label called Big Deal Records, but he didn’t pass the second round 🤦♂️. However, he met a rapper named Sleepy, who later introduced him to Big Hit Entertainment, where he was offered a spot by the CEO, Bang Si-hyuk, in 2010 📝.
RM joined Big Hit Entertainment at the age of 16 and started training with other future BTS members, like Suga and J-Hope 🤝. During his training, he worked on several pre-debut tracks and even helped write songs for other artists, which helped him develop his skills as a rapper and songwriter 🎶.
